11 Months!

I can not believe my tiny (ha!) baby is only a month away from being 1 year old!  This year has flown by so fast I can't believe it! Mike and I were just talking about how quickly we've already forgotten about about Rowan and Eli being this age. It is so much fun watching Eli and Rowan with Silas.  They get so excited watching watching him learn new things.

He has 6 teeth (pretty sure he had them last month too). His amber bracelet fell off and was missing for a few days and I swear he was more fussy during that time! Of course, it could have been a coincidence but I'm not taking it off just in case!

He's been saying "Mama" a lot! I think maybe even to me on purpose! The other boys always seemed to say "Dada" first so I'm pretty excited about this :) He's not quite walking but has taken a few steps here and there.  He stands alone a lot (Rowan and ELi get really excited every.single.time) and has really good balance.  He walks along everything and uses the kitchen chairs to walk. He also gets his big brothers to hold his hands and walk through the house.
He loves to play peek-a -boo and give kisses! He's about the same with food, but he is enjoying smoothies that he drinks with a straw!
We recently started bringing out the wooden train tracks and he loves playing with them!
He also likes to climb in and out of baskets. It's pretty funny to watch :)

Last weekend we went to my cousins house for his son's 8 th grade graduation! Silas got to see two of the babies that are close to his age. One just a few weeks younger and the other about 3 months older. I love seeing babies together at this age!

10 Months!

ir0 months!! Another month went so fast! I can't believe we have just 2 months until he's 1year!!

I'm surprised I was able to get a picture of the 10 on the sign this month.  He was not at all willing to let the paper sit in front of him!  He's been putting things on top of his head lately- papers, clothes, books- I guess he's pretending they're hats? It's pretty cute whatever he's doing :)

He still has those gorgeous blue eyes and dimples and now also has 6 teeth!!! He loves to try and chew on our fingers- ouch! He's been having a lot of fun with his little radio lately. He figured out how to push the buttons and he likes to dance to it.

He loves to sit in our bean bag chair- where I took these pics- and he'll crawl in it, lay back and say "uh uh uh" to get me attention :) It's really funny when he gets stuck trying to get off it!
He walks along everything and has even stood alone several times! He likes to push the kitchen chairs across the dining room floor while he walks with them (who needs walkers when you have wood floors and chairs!)

I feel like he is making a little progress in the eating department (slowly..) and we got him a straw cup instead of the sippy and he loves it! So much easier! He's actually giving himself bites of food with the spoon!

yes, he is wearing the same clothes he had on in his 9 month pics..... oh the horror!

9 Months!

Oh Silas! Nine months already?! This boy, those dimples, those blue eyes, none of us can get enough of him.  It feels like he was born yesterday, or he's been with us forever.  It's hard to put it remember.  We all try to soak him up, Mike and I the most, knowing how quickly they grow up....
Silas has been sick this month.  It started as a cold, turned into a cough and then breathing treatments.  The weather doesn't help but hopefully soon spring will be here and he'll get over it! He does great with the berathing treatments and usually sits still as long as we sing to him.  He had his 9 month appointment and weighed 24lbs 1oz!! Slowed down on the weight gain- I think his thighs are already not as chunky :(

He loves to clap {"yeah!"} and wave! He says "mama" "dada" and other sounds. Occasionally I think he might even say those words correctly and not just a coincidence ;)
Today Eli would scream (happily but loud) and Silas would do it back! Pretty funny!  Mike was off work for spring break the last week and Silas loved having so much time with Daddy!

He crawls and walks along furniture.  He is loving pushing things (ottomon, chairs) across the new wood floor and he's stood without holding onto things a few times - really quick.  He's no longer scared of crawling on the grass!

He's getting 4 teeth! Top two and bottom two in the front middle.  The bottom ones are mostly up and one of the top is still trying to cut through all the way.  He's been a little fussier and clingy but he's also been sick so not sure if it's teething or not.  I still need to get some teething tablets to see if they help. Of course he loves to chew on everything- including our fingers! He thinks feet are pretty neat- and apparently tasty?- especially his brothers! Eeeww!

He's still not that into food, aside from nursing.  He really enjoys grapefruit juice (from a grapefruit not canned) and broth so we are going to try ad really water down his food to see if that'll get him to eat more.  he also likes to suck on the mesh pouch with food in it- apple, pear, cantalope, blueberries... I'm not too worried about it, he'll usually eat a few bites and then just decide he's done, since he's clearly happy, healthy and growing.

Sleep is hit or miss with him, well naps.  He sleeps great at night usually. After not taking  a nap outside of my arms for a week, he took  a 3 hour nap one day when I wasn't here! I put him down and then left him with Mike and he slept the whole time! It's like he knew...

He's such a happy boy! He really does light up when Rowan and Eli get home.  He LOVES his brothers! I can't wait to watch them grow together even more!

8 Months!!

8 months! I can't believe he'll be 1 in just 4 months! I have a friend who had a baby the other day so seeing pics of her tiny newborn makes me even sadder when I think about how quickly he's growing.  I know that's the whole point. but I do miss it already!

Silas is having fun exploring the house now that he is crawling.  He knows the doors we keep closed and he bolts towards them the minute they are opened or the baby gates are down.  For the most part he has a lot of area that he is free to explore and it's safe for him so I let him.
He stands up everywhere he can, he's still pretty wobbly but he doesn't care.  I've also noticed he stands on his tip-toes a lot.  I don't remember the other boys doing this.... hopefully it doesn't cause problems later.
He's still not that into solids.  He nurses great though! We kind of took a break from trying baby-led weaning, because it just doesn't seem to work for him right now.  We are still trying purees, and his usual reaction is usually some kind of "this is gross" face and gagging.  I'm just hoping he's a late bloomer and there's not some kind of actual sensory issue we'll have to work with.  We usually try every few days to offer something to see if he becomes more interested.  The things he's actually seemed to like so far were broth and juice from a grapefruit! And both those were just liquids so there wasn't really a texture for him to deal with.  I also bought one of those mesh holder things and let him have blueberries in it. He seemed to like that a lot too!

He sleeps great at night but naps come and go... lately he's been having a few days of crapy naps and then a few of really good naps.  He hardly ever naps on the weekend (most likely from the extreme lodness of his brothers! Hopefully the nice weather will change that- since they'll be outside more).  He usually takes his best naps on days we have somewhere to be ;) He hardly ever will fall asleep in the car.  It's almost crazy how he fights to stay awake in there, hopefully when I get him a new seat (for our van!) he'll sleep better.

He's still really into his brothers. They make him laugh and now he enjoys destroying things they build with blocks ;) He's pretty good at entertaining himself. We have a few baskets with his toys in them in the living room and he likes to sit and discover all the toys, and then dump them out of course!

He is so happy! And usually smiles anytime someone talks to him! He says "dadada and mamama" although I don't think he does that on purpose though... He just learned to clap but doesn't do it on demand yet.  He also signs "milk"! I find it adorable! He doesn't do it all the time but when he does it is clear he wants to nurse.  He even put his hand in my face and did it the other day!

I just noticed this morning that his 2 bottom front teeth are starting to poke through! I can see the tiny holes starting.  Maybe that's contributing to the lack of naps? He doesn't seem to be too fussy from it at least not yet, lets hope that conitnues!  He's been wearing an amber necklace on his ankle for a few months so hopefully that'll help.  I know it helps with the drooling!

Happy 8 months baby boy!!

Spring? (coming soon)

We had a few nice days last week so we spent some time outside.  Silas wasn't sure about the wind and did NOT like touching the grass!  I remember Eli reacting the same way at first.  I know it won't last long, but for now I'll enjoy him just sitting still for a few minutes :)

A leaf!

 thinking about leaving the blanket.....

Oh, I love him! I will never get tired of those dimples!

(I bought those green pants at a garage sale last summer, they are 18months, I remember thinking I hoped he'd get to wear them since he'd probably be in that size in the summer- ha!)

Go Silas

It happens so quickly. One minute they just learn to roll over and the next they are crawling. Fast!

Silas started officially crawling last week and within a few days of doing that he started to pull up on everything. The living room has been rearranged to keep him from going where he shouldn't. Upside down laundry basket placed between the ottomans to block the entertainment system. Large Rubbermaid container to block access to the exercise bike and lamp. Oh, I forgot how fun these times are.

Of course, every time he hits a new milestone comes some fussiness. My thoughts are that he's frustrated. He's so excited to stand up but ones he gets there nothing happens. He wants to move. To walk, maybe? Hopefully that doesn't happen for a while ...

For now we make barricades randomly through the house and make sure we close all doors and make sure the floors stay clean!
He has been taking great naps though so at least that's nice :)

Rowan and Eli naively thought they could build with blocks on the couch so Silas couldn't get it. Hahahaha (that was Silas laughing at them!

Silas is 7 months!

Another month, another "Wow, I can't believe he is __ months old!" I know I say it every month, but it is crazy how quickly the time goes! Silas is all over the place now. STill not officially crawling, but he rolls, scoots, and does anything he can to get around. he tries to pull up on stuff that is lower to the ground and gets up on his knees. I've even seen him up on his knees with his hands up on the wall!

Of course, with all this movement comes some frustration because he can't do everything he wants to do. If he drops a toy and it rolls away from him he wants to be able to get it right then but he can't. He gets very mad! He also wants everything- phones, remotes...- and when we move them so he can't get them (or god-forbid take them away from him!) he gets so mad and screams and cries! It's kind of cute ;) He has a grip though- this baby is strong!

He loves to blow raspberries with his mouth! He babbles and does the "dadada" thing.  He is still in love with his big brothers.  He gets so excited when they get home and give him attention.  Eli calls him Cutie but says it like "cootie" Its pretty cute.  He'll come home and say "where's my cootie boy?"

We have two plastic baskets we keep under the bench in the living room with all the baby safe toys and Silas loves to sit on the floor next to a basket and take toys out.  He gets really excited when he dumps the basket and then turns it over! The other day he was banging a toy on the upside down basket laughing up a storm and then he smacked his other hand with the toy and immediately started crying :(  He also loves to stand! He can't do it on his own but when we stand him up he loves it!

He's still not really in to food yet.  He did suck on some pear for quite a while during breakfast yesterday.  Tonight I'm going to steam it and see what he thinks.  He still nurses and I've ben trying to teach him to sign "milk" I think he's done it a few times, or maybe he just realized he can open and close his hand...

He has been doing better with going to bed and staying asleep longer at night.  Naps are so sporadic though, some days he'll nap for 20minutes some 2-3 hours.  I won't complain too much as long as he sleeps better at night! He hardly ever falls asleep in the car anymore.  He tries to stay in a sitting up position where he leans his head forward the whole time.  Makes me tired just looking at him!

Just the other day he learned to put himself in a sitting position when he's been "crawling" around.  He'd been pretty close but kept having issues with one leg. We all love watching him discvover new things.  Rowan thinks everything he does is so fascinating, it;s cute and fun to watch him too :)
