We went to Michigan at the beginning of August and camped at a state ;park on the beach.  We took the pop-up camper and stayed for 3 nights and had such a great time! Eli was in his cast still so we had to majorly wrap that up, we had one oops where it got wet after he submerged it but the hair dryer and paper towels got it dried out pretty quickly.  The campground was great and we will definitely stay there again! Silas loved the beach and only ate a little sand!  Of course it was on the cool side when we were there but that just helped keep Eli out of the water (I feel I should mention that as I'm typing this on Sept.9th it's about 95 outside!)
There was a great little ice cream shop down the road that we went to one night for supper and ice cream.  We also went out for breakfast one day!  I LOVE going out for breakfast, but Mike never wants to so he finally gave in for me! It was this really popular hip cafĂ© a town away and the food was AMAZING! Even the coffee was awesome! It was served in a pint glass because we ordered the strong coffee! We will go back there  again for sure! (I had pics but they are on my phone..) We had to wait for a table for a little bit and then for our food but the kids were pretty good- we really don't go to real restaurants anymore so they aren't usually used to waiting long for the food.  The waitress brought us a plate of cooked potatoes and onions since the kids were getting a bit restless- especially Silas- so that was nice.
Mike has some family up in that area and his cousin and his girlfriend were able to come visit us one night for a few hours.  Next time we hope to add an extra day so that we can spend some time in Grand Rapids where they live too. We also hit up some fruit stands for some yummy plums and nectarines- I really wanted cherries after seeing a sign but apparently they weren't in season- but left the sign up! :(
We can't wait to go back next year!

they made an alligator!

Eli's cast cover ;) dishglove, press n'seal, plastic bags and waterproof tape!

Silas saw Rowan put his face in and wanted to try. he thought it was funny the first few times then he went too deep and cried.

Labor Day Weekend!

We had talked about going camping this weekend but decided to stay home instead. The boys stayed at my moms Sunday night and Mike and I ran some errands with Silas.

Saturday Freddie ate a piece of yarn about 6" long. Ate it! I had no idea a cat would even do that! She had a visit to the vet a few days before and was just starting to act like herself again and then she ate yarn! We've been putting her in the laundry room at night until her stitches healed up and since it was so hot she's been in occasionally during the day too ( quite the spoiled stray cat ;) ). If you don't know it can be very bad for a cat to eat yarn. Google freaked me out and prepared me and having a catpertise friend is always helpful too. So we gave her some Vaseline to grease her insides and we made her stay inside unless we were outside with her watching her every move. I put the emergency vet on speed-dial and we waited....

The next day mike followed her to her bathroom spot with scissors and gloves ( cut don't pull!) and stayed back till she was done. No yarn so back inside she came. She was acting fine so we just watched her. I admit I was pretty worried. The boys LOVE this cat so much and after losing the kitten they couldn't handle if something happened to Freddie too! She was getting quite annoyed with us by the 2nd night so we were quite realized to wake up and see a nice puked (? I think) up mess of yarn! And she even did it on the towel!! :) we were all so happy that she was fine, lesson learned- no yarn for cats!

Monday we finally had a nice day so we picked the boys up at my moms and then headed to a local park to do some hiking! Mike put " see a native prairie" on our summer bucket list so we finally got to cross that off. It was a little over a mile there and was definetly worth it! It was on the side of a hill overlooking the river but was gorgeous! ( we just followed the trail but on our way out we saw the maps you could take and it said to just look at the prairie not go in it. Oops ;)
It was a lot of fun and on the way home we stopped at a roadside ice cream shop. The ice cream was so good and the kids enjoyed that! The cones were huge!

14 months!!

I'm a week behind of course!

Well, I can finally say that Silas is a WALKER! The other boys started right around their first bday so he is my latest. I love the new wobbly walker stage. It's so cute! He still gets really excited when he's doing it too. He started really doing it more when we went to Michigan because he wasn't a big fan of crawling on the sand or the dirt ( at our campsite).

He's been really into books lately and will usually sit for a few to be read to him. He loves playing outside- especially if he can climb the front steps! He loves " petting" Freddie. Poor kitty, she doesn't seem to mind though.

He's still a really good eater! Breakfast is usually eggs, maybe sausage and fruit. Lunch is usually some cheese and fruit or leftovers if that's what I'm having.

It's really nice getting time with just him while the boys are at school. He's been taking good naps too so I have plenty of time for homework! He loves to climb. I'm not too fond of this. He also likes to stand on the kitchen chairs :/
He has a cabinet he can play in and one side is the metal bowls so he loves throwing them out of the cabinet! My mom watched him the other day and he hid in the cabinet from her! Even shut the door! Haha.
He has said " mama and hi" but usually he just points and says " uh uh" yes I'm already planning for our 3 rd round of speech :/
He loves his shoes! He'll bring them to me to put on if he finds them. He gets very upset if he doesn't get his way ;) his 8 th tooth just cut through! It's on the bottom left next to the front 2!
He's been trying to use a spoon at meals sometimes. This is quite amusing and usually involves him holding the spoon with one hand and eating the food with his other hand!
This is such a fun age! I love watching his personality come out! He also had his first bottle this month( actually week) since I have class till 9 2x a week mike has given him a bottle to try to get to sleep. Out of 4 classes he's been asleep twice when I've gotten home! He was also watched by my mom one day for class and stayed at a friends house another day! He's done great everytime!
