We went to Michigan at the beginning of August and camped at a state ;park on the beach. We took the pop-up camper and stayed for 3 nights and had such a great time! Eli was in his cast still so we had to majorly wrap that up, we had one oops where it got wet after he submerged it but the hair dryer and paper towels got it dried out pretty quickly. The campground was great and we will definitely stay there again! Silas loved the beach and only ate a little sand! Of course it was on the cool side when we were there but that just helped keep Eli out of the water (I feel I should mention that as I'm typing this on Sept.9th it's about 95 outside!)
There was a great little ice cream shop down the road that we went to one night for supper and ice cream. We also went out for breakfast one day! I LOVE going out for breakfast, but Mike never wants to so he finally gave in for me! It was this really popular hip café a town away and the food was AMAZING! Even the coffee was awesome! It was served in a pint glass because we ordered the strong coffee! We will go back there again for sure! (I had pics but they are on my phone..) We had to wait for a table for a little bit and then for our food but the kids were pretty good- we really don't go to real restaurants anymore so they aren't usually used to waiting long for the food. The waitress brought us a plate of cooked potatoes and onions since the kids were getting a bit restless- especially Silas- so that was nice.
Mike has some family up in that area and his cousin and his girlfriend were able to come visit us one night for a few hours. Next time we hope to add an extra day so that we can spend some time in Grand Rapids where they live too. We also hit up some fruit stands for some yummy plums and nectarines- I really wanted cherries after seeing a sign but apparently they weren't in season- but left the sign up! :(
We can't wait to go back next year!
they made an alligator!
Eli's cast cover ;) dishglove, press n'seal, plastic bags and waterproof tape!
Silas saw Rowan put his face in and wanted to try. he thought it was funny the first few times then he went too deep and cried.
