Just Rowan
The other day Mike and I watched some video's of Rowan from last spring and couldn't believe how much he has changed just in the last year. Also made me realize how little we have videotaped him in the last year, something I will definetly do more of now!! Now I am missinh him as a baby so thought I'd post pics of him from the last 2.5years. I can't believe he'll be 3 in July!

My baby's sick :(
I went to pick Rowan up from daycare today and he was just waking up from his nap and ended up having a temp of 103!! Actually a "normal" temp for him but I still hate to see him sick. We were planning on going to playgroup and he was quite dissapointed about not getting to see his friends. He spent all evening laying on my lap, although he was in a good mood most of the time- he talked and sang to the baby a lot!! His fever went down after a bath and some medicine, but went back up by bedtime so we will be staying home tomorrow. If it stays up I'll probably see about taking him in to make sure it's not his ears, since it usually is when his temp gets high like this.
We bought a lot of baby clothes yesterday at the Carter store, they had a big sale and I got some great deals and stuff the baby can wear next winter- hopefully!! Rowan got some new shoes and sunglasses.
I've been feeling pretty good about avoiding sugar and haven't felt like my blood sugar has been high. I haven't tried to eat the fruited yogurts we have cause I think they may have too much sugar and make me feel sick. My new "treat" (that Rowan loves too!) is plain organic yogurt with sliced banana and a drizzle of lite chocolate syrup- it's pretty good, and I feel like I'm getting chocolate- Rowan thinks it's like an ice cream sundae!! I also found some natural granola bars with dark chocolate chunks, they have sugar added but not much and I feel fine after eating them. Wow what an exciting life we live!!! Jealous?? :)
It was in the 60's today, but of course rained ALL DAY! The rest of the week will be colder, I'm beginning to think we will NEVER have a real spring. I keep telling Rowan we will do this or that as soon as it's warm out, but it never happens! He's probably not going to listen to anything I say anymore. I knitted a washcloth for the baby. I was determined to make something that wasn't a wascloth or scarf, but I am doubting I can do it. Since I told myself I couldn't buy anymore yarn until I made something new, I started a hat for Rowan and worked on it for about 2 weeks. I havn't done any knitting since, until this weekend! Guess I'll just stick to my washcloths- I figure I will save us thousands of dollars!! ;)

28 weeks
I think this puts us in the 3rd trimester now!! 12 weeks to go, we have finally started buying some things we will need- Rowan loves the car seat! I had an appointment this week with the midwife and everything was good, I measured the right size, and we think he was head down. I will be having another ultrasound in a month so they can check his size, she also said that typically the Dr. starts doing NST at 36 weeks and once a week till birth, but we could always refuse to do this. Will just see what happens when we get there, I don't really want to sit in the office for an hour every week hooked up to a machine! We now will start going every 2 weeks, so I'm sure it will go pretty quick from here.
My blood sugars have still been good, but I think I am starting to feel the effects of anything sweet I eat. I even don't feel right after having even a drink of coffee- not sure if it's the caffeine or the tiny bit of sugar I put in it. They tell me it is harder for your body to regulate as the pregnancy goes on, so I guess that is why I am feeling it more. I will just have to be a lot more careful so I will hoepfully not need insulin. I have to start doing kick counts now, which is no problem since he moves constantly!
I got a prenatal massage this week, and it was great, so relaxing! I am hoping to get another one closer to delivery, since I'm sure I will be in more pain by then.

Chicago- Day 3
We woke up early, got breakfast at The Corner Cafe, and walked down Michigan Ave. to the Museum of Contemporary Art. Rowan wasn't really into it and had a few fits. We decided to walk over to Water Tower to check out some stores- well Rowan had a huge meltdown in the middle of the mall and cried, screamed, kicked and layed on the floor for about 20mins!! All because he wanted to throw away his diaper!! He calmed down and we took the bus back to the hotel to pick up our bags and head to Union Station. We ate lunch and waited for the train.
Rowan was playing peek-a-boo with the guy in the seat behind him, and after awhile he fell asleep!! It was a much quicker ride w/ no delays at all.
Waiting for the train to move.
Yeah! We're finally moving!
Napping on the train!
Chicago- Day 2
Our second day we got up grabbed some breakfast and took the bus to the aquarium, it was snowing a little, but not as much as the news had said. Rowan really like the aquarium- especially the penguins and the dolphin show- which he actually sat for!
Rowan trying to look in an aquarium.
In awe of the penguins!
After spending several hours there we left to go to the hotel- it was snowing a lot by then, and the aquarium actually was closing early from the snow. We took the bus back and Rowan fell asleep during the ride, of course he woke up as soon as we got off the bus. We lounged at the hotel for a few hours, and then ordered a stuffed pizza- it was YUMMY!! We decided to head out after supper to find some ice cream for Rowan. We rented a baby carrier to use with Rowan so we didn't have to carry him or mess with a stroller, it really worked out great, and didn't hurt my back at all. Rowan doing his favorite thing- playing in front of the window, w/ his new school bus!

Heading out for ice cream!
Finally got to eat some ice cream!

Chicago- Day 1
We took the train up Thursday morning- I forgot to take pics of Rowan on the way up- he was very excited to ride the train. He had a few little fits on the train, but did pretty well- especially since we had several delays and ended up being on the train for over 4 hours- a long time for a 2.5 year old to sit, especially since he can barely sit to watch a 20 min. cartoon!!
Rowan loved the hotel- especially the window, and spent most of the time right in front of it, looking outside at the water, buses, cars and people.
Rowan woke back up, and we headed back to the hotel- in a taxi, Rowan thought this was very cool!! Probably because it was the only time he's gotten to ride in a car without a carseat!
We FINALLY got to Chicago and Rowan was getting cranky and we were all hungry, we ate at the Union Station food court and then walked to the hotel. It was a pretty nice day and i put Rowan in the carrier on my back, which he really liked cause he could look up at all the big buildings!
Mike and Rowan taking a break on the walk to the hotel.

After finally deciding Rowan wasn't going to take a nap, we headed towards Navy Pier to check out the Children's Museum. It was the free night, so it was of course packed with kids. Rowan had a blast and loved checking out the exhibits.
Learning how to put on seatbelts, and playing in the tunnel of mirrors!
Driving Daddy in the truck, and putting gas in the car!
After playing at the museum we were all hungry so we just decided to eat at a restaurant in the building, it was almost 8pm and Rowan was pretty tired since he hadn't napped. He started dozing at the table in the highchair, but still kept eating his french fries and chicken!

We're in the double digits...
According to the pregnancy ticker, my due date is in 97 days!! This sounds like so much less time than saying 14weeks left, although that doesn't sound like much eaither. I think I am starting to get a little nervous about this whole 2 kids thing- did we really think this through! :) Except for the few outfits and jammies I bought, we haven't got anything yet.
Next week we are taking a trip to Chicago for a few days, Rowan is very excited to ride on the train, he doesn't really know what "Cago" is but knows we are taking a train. It should be a nice trip although it will be kind of cold!!
It's been warmer here all week and we have all enjoyed getting out of the house, and not being sick. The baby is moving a little less than before, but still active.
Mike is on spring break now, and mine is next week- and I can't wait, a whole week w/o work. Maybe i'll go shopping for the baby, or maybe I'll just lay around the house while Rowan's at daycare- yeah i think that sounds nice!

Movies, ice cream, and pregnancy
Rowan's latest obsession has been ice cream cones, Mike bought these mini cones and he loves them! They are tiny but he still feels like he is getting a nice treat! Of course he asks for them all the time, first thing in the morning he says he wants them for breakfast, he wants them for snacks, desserts, and pretty much any time of the day- he doesn't get them that often quite that often though!
My mom and I took Rowan to see his first movie this weekend. Surf's Up was playing at the free matinee. He loves penguins so I thought it would be a good one for him. He did pretty well up till the intermission, he sat on my lap and we all shared a big bucket of popcorn. After taking a bathroom break during intermission I tries to take him back in and he really didn't want to go, he said that the movie was "too loud!" So we left, and I didn't get to see how the movie ended! I thought he did pretty good for sitting for a whole hour- he hardly ever sits for a 20min. cartoon, so I wasn't really surprised that he couldn't sit for a whole movie. he kept asking when we would go back after we got home, maybe we'll try again in a few weeks- after all they are FREE!!
I have been having a lot of hip pain lately, so today I decided to try out my prenatal yoga dvd. I didn't really feel bettre after, but maybe if I actually do it more often it will help. Rowan excercised with me and was really into it for a little while- I will have to get some pics of him doing downward facing dog! We are in our 25th week now! WOW! I think I am huge now, the lasy pics I took were last week, but I am probably not that much bigger this week.
Me at 4 weeks pregnant, and 24 weeks, it's hard to see with the light shirt, but I couldn't find the dark one.

Week 24
Wow I really can't believe we are already at week 24!! I had an appointment with the doctor last week, they were talking about insulin since I had some high numbers, but aftre me telling them several times that I had been sick and not careful with my diet they said I could have more time. Of course the Dr. still thinks I will have to go on it eventually, but I will try to prove her wrong! My sugars have been fine this past week, so hopefully they will stay that way. Although we did get our girl scout cookies today :)
The baby is moving like crazy!! I swear I feel him all the time, Rowan never moved like this. Mike and I lay in bed watching my belly move around at night. My stomach has really been growing lately and I am definetly feeling it in my hips.
Yesterday it was 60 out and today we are suppose to be getting a snowstorm- we are ready for spring! Although, I would be ok with another snow day! Rowan is making all these plans for "when it's warm outside!" I think he is ready too. He knows he will have a new brother when it gets to be summer, but I don't think he quite gets what that means yet.
