Sometimes I am so fascinated by this little guy I don't know what to think. One minute he's telling ME "Don't talk to me like that!"(uh yeah!). The next he's saying "Mom I love you SO much," with a big kiss of course or he's smothering his baby brother in hugs and kisses. Tonight I was excited to see that Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer was on so we could watch it together. He seemed to really like it and sat quietly watching it until the part where Rudolph leaves his other "misfit pals" in the house they were staying in for the night (yeah I didn't remember any of it either). He leaves cause he is convinced the Snow Monster (forgot about that too) will get them because of his nose. Rowan starts breaking down- tears and all! Not because Rudolph is alone or because they were mean to him or because of the monster, he was upset because he didn't know what would happen to the house- especially when the big snowstorm came. Hhmm interesting, he even kept talking about the house at the end. So cute, oh well you gotta love him! Well I guess YOU don't! :)

Sticker Charts Rock!!
Rowan stopped napping a few months ago, it's something he (and I) desperately need but it is kind of hard to MAKE him fall asleep. For a while I would still make him go to his bed but all he would do was scream and kick the wall. Then I had him lay on the couch and watch a movie but that still doesn't give me a break from him. Well the other day I finally figured out what to do- a sticker chart. It worked great for him for potty training so it makes sense that it'll work for this. I decided to start out with a time limit- 20 minutes spent in bed QUIETLY (he can read books) and he would get a sticker. We call this his "rest time" using the word "nap" seemed to upset him- go figure, 3 year olds-. When he fills the chart he gets to play with the train table at the library (his choice). Brilliant!! It works great and today he actually fell asleep!! Now if only this would work for Eli!

First Snow
I hate winter, I hate the cold, but their is something magical about the first snow of the year. Rowan was so excited when he woke up, Mike was excited when he woke up and peeked outside at 3am- seriously! It was so pretty all the trees covered in white, almost makes me want to live in this area forever- well maybe not.

5 Months
This month Eli has beem to the doctor twice for his bad cold. He finally got put on breathing treatments and finally seems to be breathing better. He was a little over 18lbs at his appt. last week, although I don't remember exactly what it was.

not for very long though, I think he's stayed up for about 30 seconds (once).

He doesn't do to bad with his breathing treatments

and has even fallen asleep more than once
He can sit up!!

He still adores his big brother. The last few days Rowan has started calling him Bubba- not sure where that came from, maybe he spends too much time reading Quigs' blog?
He loves finding his feet, and is very happy to get those bulky cloth diapers off so he can actually reach them!

they claim the treatments may make children hyper- hhmmm...
must have the opposite effect on already very active children

The Bad Kind of Sharing...
You know the kind of sharing that involves the big brother coming home from daycare and smothering his baby brother with hugs and kisses and snot and sneezes. And now Eli's sick, so congested that we took him to Convient Care- somewhere I try to avoid at all costs. His doctor didn't have any openings and we decided he needed to be seen TODAY, so we braved it, and it was great. We didn't wait at all- seriously, we sat down and they called his name maybe 2 minutes later! The doctor was super nice and we were in and out pretty quick, definetly changed my opinion of Convient Care.
Eli was pretty congested and his breathing sounded worse(not like ER visit bad though, nothing scary) today and he was starting to cough. The nurse was surpsised that his oxygen levels were good because of how his breathing sounded. We were given an in office nebulizer treatment, something I remember very well from my own childhood. He actually did really well with it, Rowan seemed a little more freaked out just from watching it. We were sent home with some liquid albuterol and told to get him checked out next week if he's not sounding better. They said he would probably be pretty wired after the neb. treatment, but they were wrong. My little power napper took a 3 hour nap!!!!!! Hopefully he'll sleep as well tonight as he did today.
He still seems pretty happy though and is just as smiley as usual.
