1month!

I can't believe Silas is already a month old! You'd think by now I'd realize how fast time flies, but no it still surprises me!

He had his 1 month appt yesterday. He did great cause he's awesome ;)

He weighed 14lbs 4oz and was 23 3/4 inches long. He was in the 99.9% on the growth charts! And I thought Rowan and Eli were big at that age!

He really is such a good baby. He sleeps great at night usually 5 hrs, nurses, and another 2-3 hrs. So I really only get up twice to nurse him. Of course I still feel exhausted every afternoon. He's had a few 6 hr stretches so I'm hoping for more of that.

The boys are usually pretty into him. Although, the other day when he was fussing Eli said he " didn't want a baby anymore" Rowan usually just wants to hold him and kiss him constantly!

Rowan turns 7!!

We went to IHOP for breakfast because Rowan saw a commercial for red velvet pancakes and wanted them. Originally we were going to go to Cracker Barrel but birthday boy chooses. Of course he didn't even get the red velvet pancakes! ( I kind of hate our ihop, I think it's dirty..)

After Rowan finished his pancakes and chocolate milk the waitress brought him a sundae and sang happy birthday! He was all shy about it but so excited :)

Next we went to the childrens museum. He planned on mini golf but changed his mind at the last minute. The museum was better for Silas so we preferred it.

Next we went to Dallas and Co. The local costume/magic shop. I haven't been since I was a kid and mikes been wanting to take the kids. They picked out some little toys and were kind of freaked out by the masks :)

Next we hit the grocery store so Rowan could pick out supper. He chose mozzarella cheese sticks, oj, and donuts. Then we got some drinks and tots at Sonic.

After supper we gave Rowan the RC helicopter we got him. He was sooooo excited!

He said it was his "best day EVER!!" :). Success!!

Blog fail..

I was really hoping I'd stay up on blogging after Silas was born... Oops! Maybe after school starts up? I love looking back at the blog from when Eli was born and want to have that with Silas too.

Tomorrow he is 3 weeks old!! It's also Rowan's birthday! 7!! How did that happen?? Eli turned 4 five days after Silas was born. Neither of them are getting parties this year we told them they got a baby brother instead ;)

Rowan had his physical the other day so I asked if we could weigh Silas. At 2 1/2 weeks old he weighed 12lbs 5oz!!!! He was 10lbs 2oz at his appt at 3 days so he gained 2lbs 3oz in 2 weeks!! I still can't believe how big he was... We met my cousins baby girl last weekend she is exactly one week younger and was born 3lbs smaller!

I had a hard time seeing him as big until I could compare him to a normal sized newborn ;) clearly he is a bit bigger than her!

Due Dates!

I hate them.  The actual term is "Estimated Due Date," ESTIMATED- not today is the day the baby will be born... It's an estimate because no one knows when exactly the baby will be born.  But, for some reason people seem to think the baby must be born by or on the due date.  I was officially "due" the 13th so am 4 days past due.  I tried not to talk too much about my official due date during this pregnancy.  I think I'd usually just say June, or the end of June when asked so that when that day came and went I wouldn't be bombarded with "where's the baby??"  I have had texts from family I never talk to, asking if I've had the baby and wasn't my due date already?  Am I the only person ever to go past their due date?  I don't think so!

What is even more annoying is that people don't understand why I haven't asked to be induced yet!  What is wrong with our country that people think you must be induced just because you are due.  MY mom was 2 weeks overdue with me and she said back then they didn't induce unless there was an actual medical reason, women regularly went weeks overdue.  I read posts on BabyCenter and can't believe the number of women who want to be induced even before their due date, or the ones whose doctors recommend induction right after their due date especially when their bodies aren't progressing on their own.  WTF!!!??? I don't get it. Being induced carries a higher risk of complications which could result in other interventions and a good possibility of a c-section.  Why not just try to let it happen on its own?  I'm so done being pregnant, BUT I have been induced both times before and I would really like to know that my body could do this on my own.  I know most hospitals don't want you to go past 42 weeks because there are increased risks so most likely if I don't go into labor on my own by then I will be induced.  I'm really hoping I don't get to that point though.....

In somehwhat lighter news,  Mike took Rowan fishing at his parent's house a few weeks ago.  Rowan was having a great time!  THen he caught a fish that was on the hook pretty good, when Mike got it off there was some blood.  ROwan was so freaked out by this that he is now a vegetarian!  AT first he was an angry vegetarian :) and tried to dump Mike's bucket of fish out, several times....  He was making very rude comments to us about how we eat meat and how awful that is (keep in mind he had meat 2 hours earlier!).  We were finally able to calm him down about it and he realized he can't make decisions for everyone and he can't tell other people what to eat.  It's actually worked out great- he's been less picky than he was before.  Before if we put beans on his burrito and he saw them he wouldn't eat it, now he eats them just fine and talks about which beans are his favorite!  I made a big deal about how he would have to eat lots of protein - including beans- if he wasn't eating meat.  He also checked out some vegetarian cookbooks from the library!  Even Eli has started asking if what we are eating has meat in it, because Rowan doesn't eat meat :)

40 weeks!

I was a little hopeful but given my track record didn't really think this one would come on time. Oh well! Hopefully soon...

Big Brothers!

We signed the boys up for a sibling class this weekend! They've been so excited for this, I knew Rowan would be great since he's older and actually wants to help with stuff. I was a little concerned about how Eli would act because, well because he's Eli! ;)

They both did great and had so much fun! They were also the only kids to ask questions and answer questions :). Yeah for my loud not shy kids! They learned how to put a diaper on, hold the baby, and swaddle the baby. Swaddling was Rowan's favorite part. They also watched a movie on Silly Siblings and how to help out with the baby.

They can't wait to meet their new brother and I'm pretty excited that Rowan is old enough to actually help!
