My two boys

Here is our baby boy. Rowan is still calling him brother-sister, but he will now say that he is a boy. I've watched the video of the ultrasound almost every night. It is so neat, he is sleeping with his hand on his chest and then turns his head and starts moving his mouth!!! SO amazing, it doesn't even seem real. He is very active- way more than Rowan was, although since Rowan now never stops moving, hopefully this boy will be a little more calm later on.

We are trying to narrow down some names and so far some of our favorites are: Miles, Oliver, and Eli- not directly related to the Superbowl, although probably how we got the name in our heads. Of course Rowan is going through an "I don't like...!" stage, so everything we say- whether it's a baby name or what's for supper, he loudly lets us know he doesn't like it.

Rowan- who is enjoying some "coffee" aka hot cocoa, in the photo above, has learned how to spell his name. He says R-O-W-H-N, but it's pretty close- A and H do sound a lot a like. He peed in the potty yesterday, and wants to sit on it constantly- but usually doesn't actually go in it, so I'm not sure if this is a good thing or not. I suppose any interest is better than none.

I am defientely not as tired as I was at the beginning of this pregnancy, but now feel like I am starting to move towards the sleeping problems I had when pregnant with Rowan. I am starting to wake up more at night and it seems like it is taking me longer to fall asleep, I also haevne't felt like napping on the weekends- which I kind of miss. I am halfway done with this pregnancy, I just hope the second half goes fast.

Week 18

Well since we all had a 3 day weekend of course we ended up sick. My cold started Friday night and I felt awful Saturday and Sunday. Rowan started getting it Saturday night and had a fever all day Sunday, he hasn't had one today so I think he will be ok to go back to daycare in the morning.

The baby has been moving a lot in the evenings before I go to bed, it is so exciting!! Our sonogram is the 31st and hopefully we will get to find out the sex!! I really can't wait I want to start buying stuff and looking at names but want to wait till we know what we are having.

I have contacted some local Doula's and will hopefully be meeting with them soon. I am really considering a waterbirth they have them available at the hospital and I am really interested in it. I will look into it more and see if it'll work out for us.

My gestational diabetes hasn't been an issue. At the last appointment I saw the doctor instead of the midwife she actually said that my range for blood sugars after meals- 1 hour- should be under 140, before I had been told under 120. That put my mind at ease since the highest ones's I ever have are around 127, so I guess I've been ok. I still have to test 4x's a day but that is really not a big deal. I think the GD and the diet has really helped me keep my weight in check, I have gained about 5lbs, but it probably would have been more if I hadn't been following this diet.

Happy Holiday's

Well we are finally in the second trimester!! This Friday is my 16week appointment. I have to see the Doctor this time not the midwives because of the gestational diabetes, but hopefully this will be the only time. I have to check my blood sugars now and they are usually pretty good. It was hard sticking to my diet around Christmas but i did pretty good with it for the most part. I feel the baby move now, I didn't feel Rowan till 20weeks so it is a completely different feeling!! I have only gained about 3.5lbs so far which I think is since I am so careful with watching what i eat; I am glad though, since I gained way too much with Rowan and it wook WAY too long to get it off.

Rowan thinks the baby- whom he calls brother-sister- is in his belly button!!! It's so cute when he shows people where the baby is. He is going to be in for a real surprise when we bring home a baby!!

Christmas was great, Rowan was so excited about everything he got- "Oohh my new socks!!!" Of course he thought Santa brought everything and wouldn't give us any credit!! Oh well he had a blast.

I got my hypnobirthing book and have read it already and will soon start practicing the techniques and excercises. I am also trying to read a lot of books on natural childbirth and birth stories to keep me thinking positive.

I am trying to learn to knit better. I finished Rowan's scarf- finally, I need to take some pics of it. I also want to make him a matching hat and mittens. I am finishing my mom's new scarf and then will start on that. Then I want to learn to make stuff for the baby. stitch N' bitch had a really cute baby blanket pattern that I would lo\ve to make. I also want to make a newborn hat, and socks. Hopefully soon I will get it down and make more than just a washrag and a scarf!! If I can't teach my self something new soon, then I will probably sign up for a class.

Well if anyone happens to read this hope you all have a Happy (and safe) New Year's!!
