Baby Stuff

I have ben trying to teach myself to knit for the past year (well probably longer). When I got pregnant I imagined myself knitting the baby a blanket, a little hat, and some wool longies (for cloth diapering), but have only been able to master the square washclothe (well sometimes they are square). I have decided that sometime in the next year I WILL TAKE A KNITTING CLASS, I will make something other than a washclothe or scarf (essentially a giant long washclothe). So anyone want to take a class with me and learn to knit?! Come on anyone?!

I am able to sew basic items, and made these to use as burb cloths, they are not perfect by any means, but I think they turned out pretty well!Other people are much better at all this Martha Stuart stuff than me and we have recieved some lovely handmade gifts for the baby...
crocheted afghan made by my friend Tammy, it's so soft!!

A woman I worked with tye-dyed some onesies for us (my request). We did this for Rowan, but she buys the fancy dyes so they are really nice and won't fade like the ones we made with the dye from walmart.

The front one with the star is for the 4th of July, she made Rowan a matching shirt so they can match!

Mike's mom mad this gorgeous crazy quilt for the baby, it is crib size so he can use it on the bed.
I love it!! She made one for Rowan when he was born and he still sleeps with it, it's fun to look at all the different fabrics.

I think we have all the things we are going to need for the baby, at least for now. For some reason today I started thinking about a pack n' play. We never had one of these for Rowan and I never felt like we needed it, but now I'm wondering if we should have one for the baby. I'm thinking it probably wouldn't hurt to have another "safe" spot to put the baby when Rowan is around. I keep imagining that Rowan will be mean to the baby everytime we aren't looking! I suppose it would work to just put him in the crib, so it probably isn't necessary. I guess we'll just wait and see if we need it.

My baby's sick :(

I went to pick Rowan up from daycare today and he was just waking up from his nap and ended up having a temp of 103!! Actually a "normal" temp for him but I still hate to see him sick. We were planning on going to playgroup and he was quite dissapointed about not getting to see his friends. He spent all evening laying on my lap, although he was in a good mood most of the time- he talked and sang to the baby a lot!! His fever went down after a bath and some medicine, but went back up by bedtime so we will be staying home tomorrow. If it stays up I'll probably see about taking him in to make sure it's not his ears, since it usually is when his temp gets high like this.

We bought a lot of baby clothes yesterday at the Carter store, they had a big sale and I got some great deals and stuff the baby can wear next winter- hopefully!! Rowan got some new shoes and sunglasses.

I've been feeling pretty good about avoiding sugar and haven't felt like my blood sugar has been high. I haven't tried to eat the fruited yogurts we have cause I think they may have too much sugar and make me feel sick. My new "treat" (that Rowan loves too!) is plain organic yogurt with sliced banana and a drizzle of lite chocolate syrup- it's pretty good, and I feel like I'm getting chocolate- Rowan thinks it's like an ice cream sundae!! I also found some natural granola bars with dark chocolate chunks, they have sugar added but not much and I feel fine after eating them. Wow what an exciting life we live!!! Jealous?? :)

It was in the 60's today, but of course rained ALL DAY! The rest of the week will be colder, I'm beginning to think we will NEVER have a real spring. I keep telling Rowan we will do this or that as soon as it's warm out, but it never happens! He's probably not going to listen to anything I say anymore. I knitted a washcloth for the baby. I was determined to make something that wasn't a wascloth or scarf, but I am doubting I can do it. Since I told myself I couldn't buy anymore yarn until I made something new, I started a hat for Rowan and worked on it for about 2 weeks. I havn't done any knitting since, until this weekend! Guess I'll just stick to my washcloths- I figure I will save us thousands of dollars!! ;)

Happy Holiday's

Well we are finally in the second trimester!! This Friday is my 16week appointment. I have to see the Doctor this time not the midwives because of the gestational diabetes, but hopefully this will be the only time. I have to check my blood sugars now and they are usually pretty good. It was hard sticking to my diet around Christmas but i did pretty good with it for the most part. I feel the baby move now, I didn't feel Rowan till 20weeks so it is a completely different feeling!! I have only gained about 3.5lbs so far which I think is since I am so careful with watching what i eat; I am glad though, since I gained way too much with Rowan and it wook WAY too long to get it off.

Rowan thinks the baby- whom he calls brother-sister- is in his belly button!!! It's so cute when he shows people where the baby is. He is going to be in for a real surprise when we bring home a baby!!

Christmas was great, Rowan was so excited about everything he got- "Oohh my new socks!!!" Of course he thought Santa brought everything and wouldn't give us any credit!! Oh well he had a blast.

I got my hypnobirthing book and have read it already and will soon start practicing the techniques and excercises. I am also trying to read a lot of books on natural childbirth and birth stories to keep me thinking positive.

I am trying to learn to knit better. I finished Rowan's scarf- finally, I need to take some pics of it. I also want to make him a matching hat and mittens. I am finishing my mom's new scarf and then will start on that. Then I want to learn to make stuff for the baby. stitch N' bitch had a really cute baby blanket pattern that I would lo\ve to make. I also want to make a newborn hat, and socks. Hopefully soon I will get it down and make more than just a washrag and a scarf!! If I can't teach my self something new soon, then I will probably sign up for a class.

Well if anyone happens to read this hope you all have a Happy (and safe) New Year's!!
