Baseball Nights!

Eli is playing tball this year and Rowan is still in coach pitch. Luckily, most of Rowans games have been at our school and have been the same nights as Eli's practices so we haven't really had to split up. Mike helps on Rowans team so I usually go back and forth between the fields watching eli practice and Rowan play. Eli really likes having someone watch him. He's doing great! Our tball doesn't use the tee unless the kid doesn't get a hit afyer 5 pitches. I really like it this way because they actually get practice batting.

The other night at Rowans game Eli was running around with a friend and Silas was chasing them. He fell on the concrete and bit into his lip you could see the teeth marks and there was a lot of blood! After a few minutes he was fine and ready to go play but he wouldn't drink anything. We even tried a popsicle when we got home. He  walked around with it for a while before finally eating it. He kept sticking his lip out which was kinda cute ;)  the next day it was swollen and dark red. It'll probably take a few days to heal but at least he's eating normal again!

So now I'm more obsessively watching him during games. Last night he had a ring pop at the game and turned his lip purple in the spot that's healing. For the most part though he's pretty good at the games and practices. He loves watching his big brothers!

Last night we made a special trip out for ice cream after the game!  Every one enjoyed that!

School's Out

The big boys had their last day of school on Monday. Report card day that now lasts 3 hrs. They've both had such a great year and we are so proud of them! I can't believe how much Rowan lives reading now. And Eli is starting to read on his own and his handwriting has really improved ( possibly even better than Rowan ' s ! ;)

We have some things we are going to work on this summer- reading,  writing ( cursive for Rowan) math. I had them each pick something they wanted to learn about too and Eli picked birds and Rowan Legos. I'm excited to start up with that next week along with swimming lessons and eco - camp at Homer lake.

We also have a big trip planned and will be gone for almost 3 weeks! I'll blog about that soon as we make our final plans. For now we are busy with baseball and t - ball and just having fun!

The comparison picture is first day of school to the last. Eli definitely looks older :(

23 months!

Silas pretty much refused to hold his paper for his pics. He was obsessed with holding my real camera :/ I told him to smile for me and then he could have it. I only got maybe 2 pictures with it anyway before it said the memory was full.

Silas has been obsessed with baseball lately. He wants all the baseball stuff including bats and the balls. He has a baseball glove he walks around with and he went down for his nap today wearing Rowans cleats! He gets really excited when we say we're going to the baseball game. Last week we went to the park so mike could practice with the boys and Silas did not want to leave the field!  He loved it!

Still a good Eater. We bought a case of mangos so he's been loving those this week- we all have! He hasn't been going down for nap or bed as easy as he was. :( that's been hard since he was doing so good with that. He still usually sleeps at least 2 hrs at least.

Yesterday he got his first haircut!  Just a trim it was kinda crazy in the back and around his ears. He sat really still on my lap and did great!

I can not even believe he'll turn 2 in one month! He is babbling a lot! Not too many words still but he talks. He also shakes his head yes amd no and clearly understands what they mean lol

He's been really sweet lately and loves to give hugs! His favorite time of day is when his brothers get home!  He hugs them as soon as he sees them!

Eli's field trip

Today I went with Eli on his class field trip. I really like doing this every year so was glad it worked out for me to go.  Mikes mom came to watch Silas and ended up watching Rowan too since he got sick this morning. He was fine but I made him stay home anyway.

I decided to just take eli to school so he was excited to not have to ride the bus!
Of course we rode the bus anyway. I forgot how loud they are. Especially with 30 kids!  Both tge kindergarten classes are small this year- eli only has 14 kids in his class!

He was really excited to help pack his lunch last night. He helped make his sandwich and picked out everything else to take- pretzels,  yogurt tube, oreo -he said he'd eat tgat first ; ), and some mini peppers in red orange and yellow.  He wrote his name on his sack and on mine he wrote "Eli's Mom" :)

First we went to the planetarium. He'd never been. I kinda forget that it exists they v do a lot of neat programs, hopefully we can all go sometime. He loved it!  He said he was scared at one point but I don't think he really was.

After the program we got back on the bus, he loved us sitting together!  And drove to Meadowbrook park for lunch and play. It was pretty warm- close to 90 today. But there was a good breeze so it wasn't as bad as it could have been.

Eli gets hot and red easily so I kept attempting to make him rest and drink water. He was annoyed each time I did this of course. We were at the park for probably. 3 hrs. Long hours. It wasn't too bad in tge shade though and we had plenty of water and snacks.

I think he was definitely pretty proud that o was there all day and it was really nice to hang out with hin.

Easter

We always go to Mikes grandma's for easter and the kids love seeing their cousins and of course the egg hunt!  We also had an egg hunt that Friday with my mom and sister. And a rough game of keep away!
Silas confused the egg hunt with pick up all the random crap you find in the yard and put it in your basket. ;) the best part was definitely when he opened an egg rook out a peep stared at it and threw it on the ground. Haha. I hate peeps so thought tgat was funny!

Celebration

EIU has an art celebration every spring. They have fair food, craft vendors, music and even a kids craft tent. We haven't been in a few years and a good friend of a Mikes was coming down with his family so we decided to go meet up. Of course we saw a billion other people we (Mike) knew...

I didn't take any pics at the fair for some reason but the kids had a lot of fun. Eli played with Mikes friends 2.5 yr old. They got along great. It's kinda funny how well Eli played with a 2 yr old haha! Rowan said that I never let him do anything alone so he wanted to walk down the row of vendors by himself. He came back after the first one and said I could go with him ;)  he did stay in the craft tent by himself painting.
We ate some good food- corn dogs and red velvet funnel cake! Yum
Afterwards we went to Mikes parents for a bit. Mike really wanted to go look for mushrooms in the ravine so rowan and I went with him. The hike back was going down a really steep hillside. Apparently it used to be a regular hill but a lot of the side got washed down in tge heavy rain a few years ago. Rowan had a blast! I really wish we had land like that for him to explore more but I'm glad we can at least go there so they can explore.

The kids ran around playing soccer and we ate supper before we headed home and went to bed. That hike was exhausting!

22 Months! !

It's spring! 2 months till our baby turns 2!!

I think I'm finally seeing some added sounds this month! I need to look back at when eli was this age and how his speech was...
He says or tries to say these words:
Up
Cheese- "eese" when taking pics not for the food.
Ball- "ba"
Bus- same as ball
Hot
He can say mama and dad a but doesn't often

I know there's more I can't think of right now.

He's obsessed with the radio and insists on it when he goes to bed or nap. We set in his crib on low and he's quite happy. He usually goes to bed without crying if he has the radio.

He loves being outside and rowan has been great at watching him and pushing him in his swing or in his car.  Rowan started baseball practice a few weeks ago and since I have class mike usually has to take him and eli. The coach volunteered his teenage daughter to watch them so mike could help the team and Silas and eli have both been having a lot of fun at the playground with her.

He's getting good at walking up and down the stairs out front. He now has 13 teeth!  The other 3 canines are close to popping through too. He has days where he doesn't eat much and I think it's from his teeth. He'll always drink a smoothie though!  He knows what cabinet I keep the blender in and he'll go over there and point to it and say ugh until I open it. Haha
