Due Dates!

I hate them.  The actual term is "Estimated Due Date," ESTIMATED- not today is the day the baby will be born... It's an estimate because no one knows when exactly the baby will be born.  But, for some reason people seem to think the baby must be born by or on the due date.  I was officially "due" the 13th so am 4 days past due.  I tried not to talk too much about my official due date during this pregnancy.  I think I'd usually just say June, or the end of June when asked so that when that day came and went I wouldn't be bombarded with "where's the baby??"  I have had texts from family I never talk to, asking if I've had the baby and wasn't my due date already?  Am I the only person ever to go past their due date?  I don't think so!

What is even more annoying is that people don't understand why I haven't asked to be induced yet!  What is wrong with our country that people think you must be induced just because you are due.  MY mom was 2 weeks overdue with me and she said back then they didn't induce unless there was an actual medical reason, women regularly went weeks overdue.  I read posts on BabyCenter and can't believe the number of women who want to be induced even before their due date, or the ones whose doctors recommend induction right after their due date especially when their bodies aren't progressing on their own.  WTF!!!??? I don't get it. Being induced carries a higher risk of complications which could result in other interventions and a good possibility of a c-section.  Why not just try to let it happen on its own?  I'm so done being pregnant, BUT I have been induced both times before and I would really like to know that my body could do this on my own.  I know most hospitals don't want you to go past 42 weeks because there are increased risks so most likely if I don't go into labor on my own by then I will be induced.  I'm really hoping I don't get to that point though.....

In somehwhat lighter news,  Mike took Rowan fishing at his parent's house a few weeks ago.  Rowan was having a great time!  THen he caught a fish that was on the hook pretty good, when Mike got it off there was some blood.  ROwan was so freaked out by this that he is now a vegetarian!  AT first he was an angry vegetarian :) and tried to dump Mike's bucket of fish out, several times....  He was making very rude comments to us about how we eat meat and how awful that is (keep in mind he had meat 2 hours earlier!).  We were finally able to calm him down about it and he realized he can't make decisions for everyone and he can't tell other people what to eat.  It's actually worked out great- he's been less picky than he was before.  Before if we put beans on his burrito and he saw them he wouldn't eat it, now he eats them just fine and talks about which beans are his favorite!  I made a big deal about how he would have to eat lots of protein - including beans- if he wasn't eating meat.  He also checked out some vegetarian cookbooks from the library!  Even Eli has started asking if what we are eating has meat in it, because Rowan doesn't eat meat :)

40 weeks!

I was a little hopeful but given my track record didn't really think this one would come on time. Oh well! Hopefully soon...

Big Brothers!

We signed the boys up for a sibling class this weekend! They've been so excited for this, I knew Rowan would be great since he's older and actually wants to help with stuff. I was a little concerned about how Eli would act because, well because he's Eli! ;)

They both did great and had so much fun! They were also the only kids to ask questions and answer questions :). Yeah for my loud not shy kids! They learned how to put a diaper on, hold the baby, and swaddle the baby. Swaddling was Rowan's favorite part. They also watched a movie on Silly Siblings and how to help out with the baby.

They can't wait to meet their new brother and I'm pretty excited that Rowan is old enough to actually help!

35 weeks!

I can't remember the last time I blogged... I had a sonogram a few weeks ago and they said my fluid was high so for the past few weeks I've had non stress tests and a sono every other week. Baby has done great at the NST's. Last week my fluid had gone down a bit but this week it was up to 29 ( normal is 13-25) and we discovered he flipped and is now breech :(. Apparently the extra fluid gives him more room to flip around. He's been head down for quite a while so this is a little upsetting but he does have plenty of time to flip back.

So for now I get to do fun exercises like putting my butt on several pillows and my head on floor to try and get him to turn- its not comfy! If these don't work I can have the doctor try to manually turn him and last resort if he's still breech I'd have to have a c- section :(. But hopefully it won't come to that- fingers crossed!

We got a great pic of his feet this week! They look kind of giant to me along with his huge chubby cheeks! :). Wonder how big this one will be....

Rebel Pics

Mike got an old Canon Rebel from a friend sometime last year.  I've tried it out a few times, but really have no idea how to use it and since we haven't had a computer at home for months I really haven't taken any pics with an actual camera- luckily I have the nice iphone camera or there would be no pics of the boys for the last 6 months....SO I'm trying to learn the nice camera so I can use it more and maybe get some decent pics of the baby!  Most of these are from the begining of March but the ELi in jammie ones are today.  It really does take great pictures! Now I just have to learn how to use it!  No idea what happened to those 2 bottom pics...

30 Weeks

10 weeks left! Sounds kind of scary!

I start having appointments every 2 weeks now- what a pain! I took the boys to my appointment yesterday and they were awful. We sat in the room for 10 mins waiting and they were great but as soon as the midwife came in they lost the ability to sit and be quiet.. She seemed annoyed too so she is now at the bottom of my list of who I hope delivers the baby! I've avoided taking them to any appts but going every two weeks will make it hard to work around Mike's schedule so I guess I'll have to work on my bribes.

My next appointment I'll have a sonogram and have to do another 3 hr. gestational diabetes test :(

In other news, Rowan has started baseball and I can already feel us getting busier and busier with all the summer activities coming up. I'm thinking of quitting my job in May. I only work two days a week and it's starting to seem like more of an inconvenience to actually work since I barely make anything. Then we can get our weekends back before the baby is born.
