When it rains it pours!

I'm not a fan of winter. At all. Every year when it starts to get cold I whine and complain. Yes, I know I don't have to live here, but I do and it's hard to just leave your home. Someday...?

This pic was before the cold- too cold for naked time now!

Mike went to turn the heat on Friday night and it didn't work :(
I am so cold! When we woke up this morning it was 53 inside! I made crockpot oatmeal so we'd wake up to something warm. I put the boys clothes in the dryer to warm them. I turned the oven on for a bit to take the chill off. I'd spend the day baking but I'd rather sit on the couch covered in blankets.

Mike and I ( and Silas) are sleeping in the living room because our north facing wood floor bedroom is the coldest room in the house and it is freezing! ( I need to find a thermometer to see what temp it is in there).

Someone is coming today to look at the furnace, hopefully it's something cheap and easy to fix!

Saturday night my mom kept the big boys and Mike and I ran errands. Now for the last two months or so the vent in the car only works on high. It also makes a very loud noise when being used( very loud!) so when we use it its usually for a few minutes to get the window defrosted then we turn it off. We just turn it on as needed because of how loud it is. Saturday it was cold so we turned the heat on to warm the car and after a few minutes we noticed it wasn't getting warm :(
We've been trying to save for a minivan ( we are beyond squashed in our car!) but several things happened this summer and we had to keep putting money into our car this summer. And now no heat in the car or house.

During a storm last week our router got knocked out. So we have no Internet at home. Of course, since we have some random country Internet company we can't just replace it we have to get a hold of the guy and he has to hook it up. At least I think this is what we did last night. We could ask him if he'd maybe return our messages!! I really need to see if we have other options out here. Surely by now something must be out here for people without cable/satellite...?

So yeah, this week kind of sucks. At least we have power and aren't in a hurricane!

4months!

Silas turned 4 months on the 22nd! I took the pictures on time just didn't blog them :)

Rowan made the sign for this month :)

He's still a pretty good sleeper although he wakes up a little more than he was. I read about 4 month sleep regression. Apparently it's normal! Why did I never hear about this before?!?

He has the brightest blue eyes! I have yet to get a good picture of them but they are beautiful.

He hasn't rolled over yet. He does get on his side and gets really close.

He chews on everything!

We are all so in live with this little boy! :)

Me and My Boys

Recently there's been a lot of stories about a blog post written about moms taking pictures with their kids. I think it was called " The Mom Stays in the Picture." I saw the article and also a story in the news- Nightline maybe? It was good. And true. There are t a lot of pictures of me with my kids. Mike never pics up the camera. Even though I repeatedly tell him I'd love for him to take normal everyday pics not when I ask him.

I'm also not that into pictures of myself right now either. But I want the memories. I love looking at my photo albums from my childhood and I want to be in the ones of my kids.

It is quite easy to take pics since I have a fancy phone now. Plus Instagram can make the pic look neat and make me not look quite as crappy ;). At least I'm trying to be in the pictures!

33!!

Mike turned 33 last week ( the 11th, was that last week?). We don't really buy presents for each other. I did get him some ramekins cause he's been wanting some, but usually it's just the kids making stuff. Of course, he doesn't make sure they do stuff do my birthday....

Anyway, Rowan loves making presents he gets so into it!

Eli made a picture covered in stickers!

Rowan made a book, colored and decorated a little jewelry box, and made a flag!

Card book cover

Inside- I love that it says Mike :)

The flag!

I made a pineapple upside down cake! It was sooo good! Mike came home early so he could cook steaks on the grill!

Random Random

Eli's been a wee bit crazy lately ( that might be an understatement!). He kind of needs constant structure and activities and I haven't quite found my groove with him and Silas in the afternoon... Trying!

That's him getting bad about something. I probably looked at him or something. He gets mad because I ask him if he wants a sandwich for lunch because he wanted to TELL me he wanted a sandwich! And it's that kind of thing all. Day. Long! Minutes after he's home I find myself wishing he went to school for a full day :/

I can't picture him being in kindergarten next year. I know we have a long time till then so we shall see!

We don't get much time away from our kids so when my mom asked if they could spend the night this weekend we got so excited! I wanted to check out some consignment stores to look for clothes for me ( non maternity clothes that fit! I have no jeans!!) and a trip to target of course! We'd come home and make dinner and watch a movie after Silas went to bed. I was so looking forward to it!

Of course, this morning my mom called and said she was sick :(. The kids were upset but I think I took it harder. I'd already been mentally preparing myself for a nice little break- no whining, no fighting, no yelling!

Instead we decided to take a trip to amishland and then Mike's parents house ( we were planning to go Sunday anyway). It was nice and a gorgeous day!

On the way home we stopped at the outlet mall to get Rowan a coat. We found one at old navy and I got jeans ( that fit!!). I still need to get him a jacket since he's been wearing sweatshirts but really needs something better.

I'm hoping for a nice peaceful day tomorrow. Yeah right! :)

4month Appointment

He's not 4 months till next week but yesterday was his appointment.

He weighed in at 19lbs 9oz!!! 26.5inches long ( I think). On the growth charts he's pretty tall I believe around 95%. Not sure where he gets that?!

He got one shot and only cried for a few seconds. The nurse started talking to him and he smiled right after!

He's getting closer to rolling over!

Dimples! Why don't more people have dimples??

He's a pretty awesome baby! Waking up earlier at night than he was but still sleeps pretty well!

Swinging!

Last Friday Rowan was off for parent teacher conferences so we met up with some friends at hessel park.

Eli still had school so Rowan and I ran errands with Silas. It was so easy! When Eli and rowan are deprecated it is do nice sometimes. I thought the different school schedules would be a pain but I think I like it now! ;)

We picked up McDonald's and went to the park after we got Eli from school.
While the big kids played Silas hung out with his friend Oliver! :)

I decided to try Silas out in the swing!

He didn't have much of a reaction to it but at least he didn't cry! He was pretty relaxed and probably would've fallen asleep if he'd stayed there longer!

Weekending

Saturday was our annual trip to Clinton for the Apple n Pork Festival followed by a family weiner roast at my aunts house. Usually I do car seat checks the morning of it but this year Seat Check Saturday was the week before ( of course I didn't do it anyway because of Silas).

The biggest thing about this festival is the food! Mike always gets ham n beans, they cook it in giant cast iron kettles over a fire. The boys had ham sandwiches and I had pulled pork! Can't forget apple cider, gingerbread cookies, and applesauce donuts! Yum!
**. Have I mentioned Rowan is no longer a vegetarian?

They have old tractors there too that the boys love checking out every year.

It's always a lot of fun. Mike went to the antique/junk area with my mom and sister and I took the boys to my aunts. They had a great time running around the farm with their cousins and it was a great night to sit by the fire!

We got home around 10pm and the boys were all asleep and everyone slept till 9:30am Sunday!

Sunday afternoon we decided to go to the pumpkin patch down the road.

The boys love picking out their pumpkins and pulling the wagon around ;)

I hope this fall weather lasts we are really enjoying these nice weekends!
